Root Canal Treatment
Dental root canal treatment is a procedure used to treat infection or damage inside a tooth. It involves removing the inflamed or infected pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth), cleaning and disinfecting the space, and then filling and sealing it.
After a root canal, the tooth is no longer 'alive' but can still function normally with proper care. It often requires a crown afterwards to protect it from cracking.
Root canal treatment can:
- Save your natural tooth
- Relieve pain and infection
- Restore normal chewing and appearance
- Prevent the spread of infection to other areas
