Teeth Straightening

At SH Dental Care we offer Invisalign Aligners to straighten teeth. Mr Hothi has been an Invisalign Provider for many years and has helped many patients achieve their ‘perfect’ smile. For our existing patients we offer complimentary assessment appointments with Mr Hothi to discuss teeth straightening options.

Nearly invisible aligners, as offered by Invisalign, can be a discrete solution for the straightening of misaligned and crooked teeth. The aligners are considered comfortable and convenient as they can be removed for eating or drinking.

• Treatment time for most cases ranges from 6 to 12 months
• Unlike metal braces, the aligners are removed when eating, so there are no dietary restrictions
• They are easy to clean

Stages of Invisalign® Treatment

1st Stage

Orthodontic diagnostic visit to determine suitability for Invisalign® treatment.

2nd Stage

Prescription, diagnostic forms, impressions, photographs, and X-rays are taken. These are sent to the United States, where a 3D animation is created to show the predicted final result.

3rd Stage

Patients view their personalised animation based on treatment objectives. If approved, the aligners are manufactured.

4th Stage

The aligners arrive from the US and are ready to be fitted.

Each Invisalign® Aligner is worn for 2–3 weeks full-time, removed only for eating, brushing, and flossing. Occasional dental visits are required to ensure the treatment is progressing as expected according to the animation.

Additional visits may be necessary depending on the complexity of the treatment, especially if IPR (interproximal reduction), attachments, or elastics are used.

How Do the Aligners Move My Teeth?

As each aligner is changed every 2 weeks, a small amount of pressure is applied to the teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position.

What Happens After My Teeth Are Straightened?

Retainers must be worn full-time for 3 months, followed by night-time wear for one year. We always recommend lifelong use of retainers to maintain the stability of your results.

What To Be Aware Of Before Starting Invisalign Treatment?

• Aligners must be worn 20–22 hours a day for best results.
• Patients require discipline to keep track of aligners and maintain oral hygiene.
• Not ideal for everyone (severe cases may need alternative treatments).
