ORAL HYGIENE
The truth is that patients lose teeth through poor oral hygiene. Plaque is a film of bacteria that builds up in the mouth after eating and continues to develop all day on teeth. If the plaque is not removed effectively it becomes tarter, which if left will gradually build up and cause the gums to bleed and with time will cause teeth to become loose.

Although you can remove the plaque yourself, you will not be able to remove tarter and this needs to be removed by the hygienist. Many patients will brush their teeth two or three times a day, but still suffer gum problems. This is largely due to the way in which they brush rather than the amount of times they brush.

The hygienist will be able to show you tooth brushing techniques and be able to advise you on the correct brush for you, as well as tooth brushing aids such as floss, interdental brushes etc...

The hygienist operates on a private basis. 20 minute sessions cost £26.00. All hygienist appointments that are missed or cancelled at short notice will be charged for, due to the high demand for appointments.
